What do I say when an employee asks for Paternity Leave including for Adoption?
If you didn’t already know your employee was going to become a parent don’t forget to congratulate them. Your employee will need to notify you of their intention to take Ordinary Paternity Leave and the possible dates. Technically your employee needs to give you 28 days notice to change the dates of Ordinary Paternity Leave, however in practice that is often not possible so be prepared to be flexible and plan for the absence to start from a period at least 2 weeks prior to the intended start date.
